Planes, Trains ... And Carrot Cake!

July 16, 2007

Bridesmaid

"My husband is an avid video game player," says Ana, who tied the knot last year in an impromptu civil ceremony on St. Patrick's Day. "Knowing this, our friends came up with this design for our cake. It was a complete and utter surprise and we still have all of the decorations in our house. We guess that we'll make a 'mobile' out of them once we have kids." But not only was the cake fun – Ana says it was a delicious carrot cake, "with buttermilk frosting – YUM!!" The newlywed also sent a shout-out to her pals: "Thanks to our friends for making our impromptu wedding a complete success!"

They Said, "G'Day" ... Then Said "I Do!"

July 14, 2007

Bridesmaid

Valerie met her boyfriend of 14 years in Australia, so it only seemed fitting that they tied the knot down under. "We got married on the beach in Byron Bay, Australia," says the Los Angeles-based bride. But instead of wearing white for her sandy ceremony, Valerie went for a more colorful look. "The theme was 'a glamorous fusion of eastern cultures,'" she says. "The colors of the day were pink, purple, orange and white," which she says symbolized beauty, passion, joy and peace. "The combo of colors and roar of the surf was fabulous!"

July 13, 2007

Bridesmaid

When Katie was planning her Dawsonville, Ga., wedding, instead of picking one of her nieces to be the flower girl, she asked both of them to share the duties! "Of course, they looked like angels," Katie says of the girls, age 1 and 3 at the time of her September 23, 2006 nuptials. But looking like angels and acting like them are two different things. "I just knew they were going to do something," says Katie. "While my now-husband and I were lighting the unity candle, they decided to roll [on] the floor right in front of us. It was the cutest thing, and it will always be a memory I have of my wedding."

When we decided to get married in the Bahamas, I immediately started planning on how to get her there," says Brandi, a Sicily Island, La., bride. "After many long hours of research, detailed paperwork – and a couple of last minute visits to the vet to make sure everything was in order – she was able to make it to the Bahamas." But the pup wasn't just there to roll around in the surf: She was there with a job to do! "[She was] our flower girl," says Brandi. "Payton loved every minute of it (she's a beach fanatic!) and we were so glad she was able to be there!"
